Elacy Chimarrao - Moida Grossa 1kg (vacuum packed)
Erva Mate Chimarrão Moída Grossa Elacy is a Brazilian yerba mate, specially crafted to deliver a full-bodied chimarrão with intense flavor, excellent yield, and easy preparation.
Compared to Elacy Premium, this version features a coarser grind and a lower proportion of fine powder while preserving the traditional characteristics of chimarrão. This allows for a more consistent flow through the bombilla (filter straw) and makes preparation easier without sacrificing the drink's characteristic body and creaminess.
Ideal for those seeking an authentic chimarrão with a traditional Brazilian experience.
Origin of the yerba mate: The raw material comes from small-scale producers in Cruz Machado (Paraná, Brazil), a region recognized as the national capital of shade-grown yerba mate. There, the yerba mate is cultivated in harmony with native trees, helping preserve local forests while contributing unique flavor characteristics to the final product.
Free gluten product (suitable for celiacs).
What is Chimarrão?
Chimarrão is the traditional yerba mate drink of southern Brazil. It is prepared with green yerba mate and hot (not boiling) water, and is traditionally enjoyed using a cuia and a bomba (a filtered metal drinking straw).
The cuia is the traditional Brazilian vessel used to prepare chimarrão. Unlike the mate gourd commonly used in Argentina or Uruguay, it has a wider opening and a rounder shape, making it ideal for preparing green yerba mate in the traditional Brazilian way.
Heat the water to 80°C, making sure it does not boil.
Fill ¾ of the mate cup with yerba mate.
Cover the opening, turn it upside down and shake it gently.
Tilt the yerba to one side at about a 45° angle.
Pour a small amount of warm water (40°C) into the emptier area.
Wait 20–40 seconds for the yerba to absorb the water.
Insert the bombilla while covering its tip.
Add hot water (80°C) without filling the mate completely and always pour in the same spot.
